I Hired A Literary Agent

I have stumbled into being a children’s author… and I’ve got more stories to tell! But self-publishing is not how I want to do it moving forward.

I have learned a LOT in the last year about writing, working with illustrators, production, marketing, and branding. All. The. Things. The problem is time. There are only 24 hours in a day, and my primary purpose is not writing, it is being a husband, father, and then pastoring at my local church. But I learned something…

Limits are God’s Gift

We tend to think of limits, especially limits of time, as a problem. We are finite, not infinite. When we come up against our limits, it is an invitation to rely on God’s infinite resources.

In this case I am running up against time. How can I faithfully manage all that I believe God has for me? It’s simple actually.

Embrace Strategic Partnerships

I have my own giftedness with a finite amount of time and resources. But others can fill in those gaps. In comes Tyson James, someone that (as he said to me) has been “in orbit” with me for many years as we run in the same circles. He is new in the literary agent world, but he has many strategic connections with authors and publishers from his time with Reasonable Faith. He has the expertise and connections to help me in the next phase of my publishing journey! This way I can do what I need to do… write and promote while he works to get my foot in the door with traditional publishers.

I’m thrilled to say that I’ve already begun writing my next book and I am currently contacting illustrators. In my next post, I will share more about this project. But for now, here’s the topic of my next book…. Beauty 😄

I can’t wait to share more!
